Beyond The Plains Kenya

10 Days Kenya & Tanzania Safari

Kenya and Tanzania 10 day combined safari — Masai Mara, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater

You don't have to choose between Kenya and Tanzania.

This 10-day safari combines the best of both — Masai Mara's world-class predator action, the Serengeti's vast open plains, and Ngorongoro's incredible crater ecosystem. All in one seamless private trip.

Most travelers spend weeks debating which country to visit. This itinerary solves that problem. You'll cover the Big Five across multiple ecosystems, track the Great Migration through both Kenya and Tanzania, and finish with an optional extension to Amboseli — with Mount Kilimanjaro rising behind the elephants.

One trip. Two countries. The complete East Africa safari experience.

Why Choose This 10-Day Kenya & Tanzania Safari?

Every week, travelers post the same question on safari forums: "Should I do Kenya or Tanzania?" The honest answer is both. Kenya and Tanzania share the same wildlife corridor. The Great Migration moves between them. The predators don't respect borders. And the two countries offer genuinely different landscapes and experiences that complement each other.

This itinerary combines both without excessive park-hopping or long, punishing drives.

Masai Mara gives you 3 days in Kenya's premier reserve. Dense predator populations. Daily big cat sightings. And from July to October, the most dramatic wildlife event on earth — the Mara River crossings.

Serengeti gives you 3 days across the border in Tanzania's iconic park. The Seronera Valley is one of the most productive wildlife zones in Africa. Leopards in the fig trees. Lions on every kopje. Cheetahs hunting on the open plains.

Ngorongoro Crater adds a completely different dimension. 600 square kilometers of enclosed caldera. Some of the highest wildlife concentrations anywhere in Africa. All four of the Big Five regularly spotted in a single morning.

Amboseli is optional, but if you're a photographer or elephant lover, it's unmissable. Massive elephant herds. Kilimanjaro at sunrise. A finish that most East Africa safaris skip entirely.

Masai Mara vs. Serengeti: Why Visit Both?

Masai Mara Serengeti
Wildlife Density Extremely high — one of Africa's densest predator concentrations Very high — especially lions and cheetahs in the Seronera Valley
Landscape Open grasslands, riverine forest, rolling hills Vast open plains, kopjes, acacia woodland
Migration Season July–October (river crossings) January–July (calving, central & southern movement)
Predator Sightings Daily lion and cheetah sightings Daily lion sightings; strong leopard presence
Photography Exceptional — rich green during peak season Exceptional — dramatic kopje backdrops, wide horizons
Visitor Experience Smaller reserve, more intimate Vast park, fewer vehicles, more wilderness feel
Park Size 1,510 sq km 30,000 sq km
Choosing only the Mara means missing the Serengeti's scale and the Ngorongoro Crater entirely. Choosing only Tanzania means missing the Mara River crossings and Kenya's big cat density. This itinerary gives you both — you don't compromise on either.
