Beyond The Plains Safaris was founded by John and his wife Mary, built on John's more than 15 years of on-the-ground experience guiding and organising safaris across Kenya. What started as a deep personal passion for East Africa's landscapes and wildlife grew into something bigger: a mission to share that passion with curious, adventurous travellers from every corner of the world.
We are a locally owned and operated Kenya safari specialist — and that matters. We do not manage Africa from a distant boardroom. We live here. We know when the rains shift the migration paths, which guides have that rare instinct for spotting a leopard at rest in the branches, and which lodges deliver not just comfort but soul. With over 15 years orchestrating unforgettable safaris, John's passion for the Maasai Mara's endless plains and its incredible wildlife migration is the heartbeat of Beyond The Plains Safaris. He believes every journey should tell a story worth sharing. John co-founded the company with his wife Mary with a single conviction: that deep local knowledge is a traveller's greatest advantage.

Julius Kariuki
