You spend seven days tracking wildlife in Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater, and the Serengeti, then transition to six days at a beachfront villa or luxury resort.
Every safari segment runs in a private 4x4 Land Cruiser with a pop-up roof, guaranteed window seat, charging ports, and an onboard fridge. Beyond The Plains Safaris builds each day around your dedicated professional guide's read of current wildlife movement, not a fixed group schedule.

Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kilimanjaro (JRO) to Arusha Luxury Retreat
Your private guide meets you at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfers you to an Arusha luxury retreat, roughly 45 minutes away. Over dinner, you review the full route and set your priorities for the days ahead. This single night lets you rest before the safari begins in earnest.
Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park (Elephant Herds & Baobabs)
You depart for Tarangire, about 2.5 hours by private Land Cruiser. The park holds some of Tanzania's largest elephant herds, moving through a landscape defined by ancient baobabs. Your guide works the Tarangire River corridor for lion, giraffe, and buffalo sightings through the afternoon.
Day 3: Lake Manyara / Lake Eyasi Cultural Experience
A short transfer brings you to the Lake Manyara and Lake Eyasi area, where the itinerary shifts from wildlife to culture. You can visit Manyara's groundwater forest and alkaline shoreline for tree-climbing lions and flamingos, or spend the day with the Hadzabe and Datoga communities near Lake Eyasi. Your guide arranges either option, or a mix of both.
Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater Floor Safari (Big 5 & Black Rhino)
You descend into Ngorongoro Crater at first light for a full-day private game drive on the floor. The crater holds one of Africa's densest wildlife concentrations, including black rhino, making it one of the most reliable Big Five locations in Tanzania. A private picnic lunch is served on the crater floor before you climb back to your rim lodge.
Days 5–7: Serengeti National Park (Central & Great Migration Tracking)
Three full days in the Serengeti give you real depth in the ecosystem. Your guide moves between Central Seronera and the active migration zones, tracking current herd reports rather than following a fixed route. Expect close encounters with lion, leopard, and cheetah, plus, depending on the season, wildebeest and zebra herds numbering in the hundreds of thousands. You stay in a Serengeti Great Migration luxury tented camp positioned for the current wildlife concentration.
Day 8: Bush Airstrip Flight to Zanzibar Island
A final morning game drive precedes your transfer to a nearby bush airstrip, typically Seronera or Kogatende depending on your camp location. Your fly-in luxury safari continues with a scheduled flight to Zanzibar (ZNZ), connecting through Arusha. A private driver meets you on arrival and transfers you directly to your beachfront villa.
Days 9–13: Zanzibar Luxury Beach Resort & Island Experiences
Five days on the Indian Ocean coast, structured entirely around your preferences. Spend unstructured time at your beachfront villa, or schedule a private Stone Town heritage and spice tour, a marine safari with snorkeling over nearby reefs, or a sunset dhow cruise. None of these are fixed. Your guide arranges each one on the day you choose.
Optional add-ons: private Stone Town heritage & spice tour, marine safari with snorkeling, sunset dhow cruise — all arranged on the day you choose, at extra cost.
Day 14: Zanzibar Departure
After a final breakfast, a private driver transfers you to Zanzibar International Airport (ZNZ) for your international departure. Ask about a day-use room if your flight departs later in the day.
