This 5-day family safari combines a short, focused stay in the Central Serengeti with a Zanzibar beach finish. You fly directly into the Serengeti rather than spending a full day driving, so more of your trip goes to game viewing and beach time and less to the road.
You travel in your own private, customized 4x4 Toyota Land Cruiser with a pop-up roof, with a driver-guide dedicated to your family for the whole safari. It is a relaxed pace built around families, not a packed itinerary that rushes younger travellers.
Why Families Choose This Trip
- Your own private vehicle and driver-guide — no joining groups or shared safari vans
- A pop-up roof Land Cruiser lets kids stand safely for game viewing without leaving the vehicle
- Flying into the Serengeti instead of driving means more time on safari, less time in transit
- Two full beach days on Zanzibar to recover and unwind after the safari
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Fly to the Serengeti & Afternoon Game Drive
Your driver-guide meets you in Arusha for a short domestic flight to the Serengeti, roughly 1 hour 15 minutes. Landing inside the park means your safari starts almost immediately, with an afternoon game drive around the Central Serengeti and the Seronera area.
Day 2: Full-Day Serengeti Game Drive
A full day in the Seronera Valley with a morning and an afternoon game drive, and a midday rest back at the lodge so the pace stays comfortable for children. Between June and October, the Great Migration often moves through reach of the Central Serengeti.
Migration season note: from June to October, Great Migration herds are often within reach of the Central Serengeti, though sightings depend on where the herds are moving that week.
Day 3: Sunrise Game Drive & Fly to Zanzibar
One last sunrise game drive before you fly from the Serengeti to Zanzibar, usually connecting via Arusha or Dar es Salaam. A private transfer of 45 to 75 minutes takes you from Zanzibar Airport (ZNZ) to your beach resort.
Day 4: Free Beach Day on Zanzibar
A full free day to relax at the resort. Optional paid activities are available if your family wants to explore beyond the beach.
- Stone Town guided tour
- Prison Island tour
- Spice farm visit
- Jozani Forest tour
- Snorkelling
- Sunset dhow cruise
Day 5: Departure
Transfer to Zanzibar Airport (ZNZ) for your onward flight. A day-use room or late checkout can be arranged if your flight departs later in the day — ask us when booking. Want more time on the coast? We can extend this trip with extra Zanzibar beach nights.
