Nine days of private safari through Kenya's Masai Mara and Tanzania's Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater, followed by four nights unwinding on Zanzibar's beaches. This is the classic "safari then sand" combination, built as one continuous private trip rather than two separately booked holidays.
The safari portion runs entirely in a private 4x4 Land Cruiser with a dedicated guide, no shared vans, no fixed-group departures. After the Ngorongoro Crater, you fly from Kilimanjaro or Arusha to Zanzibar, trading game drives for white-sand beaches, Stone Town's spice markets, and the Indian Ocean.
Safari Highlights
- 9 days of private game drives across the Masai Mara, Serengeti, and Ngorongoro Crater
- Full crater-floor day at Ngorongoro, dense predator and rhino sightings
- Seamless Isebania border handover between Kenya and Tanzania
- Scheduled flight from the safari circuit straight to Zanzibar's beaches
- 4 nights on Zanzibar, with time for Stone Town, spice tours, or simply the beach
- Private throughout the safari leg, no shared vans or fixed-group departures
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi
Land at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO). Private transfer and overnight in Nairobi.
Day 2: Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve
Drive to the Mara, approximately 5–6 hours, or a scheduled flight.
Afternoon game drive on arrival.
Day 3: Full Day Masai Mara National Reserve
Full-day game drive tracking the Big Five and, in season, migration herds along the Mara River.
Day 4: Second Full Day in the Masai Mara
Second full day, exploring conservancies bordering the reserve for lower vehicle density.
Optional Add-Ons
A dawn hot air balloon safari, at an additional cost.
Day 5: Masai Mara to Serengeti via Isebania Border
Depart early for the border. Kenyan-registered vehicles can't operate inside Tanzanian parks, so your guide and vehicle hand you off to a Tanzanian counterpart at the crossing.
Continue into the Serengeti, arriving in time for an afternoon game drive.
Day 6: Full Day Serengeti National Park
Full day exploring the central Seronera plains, some of the Serengeti's highest lion and leopard densities.
Day 7: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Morning game drive, then transfer to the Ngorongoro Highlands.
Afternoon arrival at your crater-rim lodge.
Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater Floor
Full-day descent into the crater floor, one of the densest wildlife concentrations in Africa, with strong black rhino odds.
Day 9: Ngorongoro to Arusha – Fly to Zanzibar
Morning transfer to Arusha, then a scheduled flight to Zanzibar (ZNZ), approximately 1.5 hours via Kilimanjaro or Dar es Salaam.
Private transfer from the airport to your beach hotel. Safari ends here; the beach portion of your trip begins.
Day 10: Zanzibar – Beach Day
Full day at leisure on Zanzibar's beaches. No scheduled activities.
Day 11: Zanzibar – Stone Town or Spice Tour (Optional)
Optional half-day excursion into Stone Town's UNESCO-listed old quarter, or a spice farm tour inland.
Optional Add-Ons
Stone Town walking tour, spice farm visit, snorkelling or diving excursions, and sunset dhow cruises, all available on request at an additional cost.
Day 12: Zanzibar – Beach Day
Final full day at leisure on the beach.
Day 13: Departure from Zanzibar
