Four days in the Masai Mara, reached by scheduled flight in under an hour, gives you the deepest game-viewing time of any of our short Mara packages. Instead of one big day sandwiched between two half-days, you get three substantial game-viewing days: an arrival drive, two full days, and a final morning drive before flying home.

This is a private safari in a 4x4 Land Cruiser jeep with your own driver-guide, not a shared van. Your vehicle, pace, and route are exclusive to your party for the entire trip.

Safari Highlights

  • Flight time under 65 minutes, versus 5–6 hours by road
  • Private 4x4 Land Cruiser jeep and driver-guide throughout
  • Three substantial game-viewing days, not just one
  • Two bush lunches in the field, no time lost returning to camp
  • Strong odds at all Big Five given the extra time in the field
  • Option to split nights between a reserve camp and a conservancy
  • Optional hot-air balloon safari and Maasai cultural visit
  • Flying Doctors emergency evacuation cover included

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi – Masai Mara

Pickup from your Nairobi hotel or JKIA, then transfer to Wilson Airport for check-in, 60 minutes before departure. The flight to your lodge's airstrip takes 45 minutes to just over an hour.

Scheduled flight from Nairobi into the Masai Mara

Your driver-guide meets you at the airstrip in the Land Cruiser jeep. Check in, have lunch, then head out on an afternoon game drive from around 3:30–4:00 PM until sunset. Dinner and overnight at your camp.

  • Main destination: Masai Mara National Reserve
  • Activities: Flight, afternoon game drive
  • Meals: Lunch and dinner
Day 2

Day 2: Full Day in the Masai Mara

Second full day of game drives across the Masai Mara plains

Second bush lunch in the field. Dinner and overnight at your camp.

Tour Cost & Pricing

Rates are per person sharing, in a private Land Cruiser jeep with a dedicated driver-guide. Pricing depends on camp category, group size, and season.

Pricing note: Rates include the Narok County park fee, which is lower in the first half of the year and roughly doubles from July through the peak migration period. A single supplement applies for solo travellers. Conservancy stays may carry a separate nightly conservation fee, usually already built into the camp rate. Confirm your exact quote at booking.

Getting There

All flights depart from Wilson Airport (WIL) in Langata, Nairobi, not JKIA. If you're arriving internationally, we transfer you from JKIA to your hotel first, then to Wilson the next morning, unless timing allows a same-day connection.

Scheduled carriers run multiple daily departures to Mara airstrips, generally in the morning, mid-morning, and afternoon windows. Flight time is 45 minutes to just over an hour, and flights often make one or two stops at other Mara airstrips en route — this is standard and won't meaningfully affect your total travel time.

Baggage

Baggage is limited to 15kg per person in soft-sided bags only; hard suitcases aren't accepted on the aircraft. We can store excess luggage at your Nairobi hotel or a Wilson Airport locker for a small fee.

Frequently Asked Questions

An extra full day roughly doubles your game-drive time without doubling your travel time, since the flight is the same either way. This matters most during migration season, when more time in the field means more chances to catch a river crossing.

Private. Your Land Cruiser jeep and driver-guide are exclusive to your party for all four days.

Most guests see lion, elephant, buffalo, and leopard within 4 days. Rhino sightings depend on location within the reserve, since black rhino numbers in the Mara are limited and concentrated in specific areas.

Yes. Some guests split the 3 nights between a reserve-based camp for river-crossing access and a conservancy camp for night drives and walking safaris. This requires an internal transfer, arranged in advance.

15kg per person total, in soft duffel-style bags. Hard suitcases aren't accepted on the aircraft.

Yes. Non-resident park fees are lower from January through June and roughly double from July through December, set by Narok County. This is already factored into our quoted rates.

Yes, on request, for an additional $460 per person. It departs before sunrise and includes a bush breakfast on landing. With 4 days, you have more flexibility to schedule it without sacrificing a full game-drive day.

Yes. This 4-day package connects well with Amboseli, Lewa, or a Diani/Mombasa beach extension, all reachable by scheduled flight without backtracking by road.
