Getting There
Direct route: Mombasa Air Safari operates scheduled flights from Moi International Airport and Ukunda Airstrip direct to Mara airstrips (Keekorok, Ol Kiombo, Musiara, Serena), with one or two stops along the way. Total time is around 2 to 3 hours. This route runs most reliably in high and peak season.
Connecting route: In low season, when direct flights are less frequent, you fly from Mombasa to Nairobi's Wilson Airport, then connect to a Mara-bound flight on Safarilink or AirKenya. Total time including the layover is around 2.5 to 3 hours.
Road transfer from mainland Mombasa to Diani now runs via the Dongo Kundu Bypass, cutting transfer time to 30–45 minutes. If your flight departs early from Ukunda, an overnight stay in Diani the night before is recommended.
Baggage
Baggage limit on light aircraft is 15kg per person, combined carry-on and checked, in soft-sided bags. Hard suitcases are not accepted.
